Bittime - Sonic, the first Layer-2 (L2) infrastructure designed specifically for gaming on the Solana blockchain, has achieved an impressive milestone in the week since the launch of Sonic Testnet Odyssey.

The platform managed to collect more than 100,000 unique wallets and processed more than 17 million transactions, demonstrating the strong demand and huge potential of the Sonic protocol.

First L2 atomic SVM Designed for Gaming

Sonic Protocol is the first L2 atomic SVM designed for gaming on the Solana blockchain. With fundamental features to facilitate game creation and operation, such as adaptive 'gamelization' elements, mockup environments, and polymorphic data types, Sonic offers the fastest on-chain gaming experience ever.

In the first 36 hours of Sonic Testnet Odyssey's launch, the protocol recorded more than 45,000 wallets and 3.2 million transactions. Many of these transactions came from users engaging with games developed under Sonic interacting with the Odyssey campaign.

This campaign targets players who play and make transactions in games such as Jogojogo, Fomoney, Rage Effect, and Lowlife Forms.

Powered by a Connected Blockchain Ecosystem

Sonic is powered by a well-connected blockchain ecosystem through retail, ease of onboarding, and the enthusiasm of memecoins.

However, gaming on Solana has not achieved the same success as other segments such as DeFi, NFT, and SocialFi. Sonic seeks to make this process easier by enabling other developers to create their own fast SBM chains for GameFi and other projects on Solana.

Expansion Plan

Developed by Mirror World Labs, a two-year-old GameFi infrastructure startup, Sonic has planned expansion through ecosystem grants and accelerator programs to attract developers to join Sonic SVM and HyperGrid Framework.

HyperGrid provides a showcase for streaming and provisioning game engines and virtual machines on Solana, as well as a grid environment kit for creating new SVM environments for games.

This comes after Sonic successfully secured $12 million in Series A funding led by BITKRAFT, with participation from Galaxy Interactive, Big Brain Holdings, and others. Sonic also recently upgraded Sonic Testnet Odyssey to increase speed and reliability, which in turn increased the delivery success rate of games like Snake Lite, a tap-to-earn game developed via Telegram.

Further Prospects

Sonic's early success shows the huge potential of L2 infrastructure in changing the gaming landscape on the blockchain. With strong support and continued development, Sonic is on track to become a major player in the ever-growing GameFi industry.
